To our Guests Welcome to Miradouro-da-Papalva Guest House Inn, a unique Guest House built on a hill top with a 180º degree panoramic view of the ocean and the majestic Pico Mountain. From the Guest House or your suite you can view migrating whales and dolphins as they swim by the village. Miradouro-da-Papalva hill was and is still presently used as a lookout by the whale spotters.
John Originally born in the village of São João, Pico island, immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area California USA at age 12 in 1963. He returned back to his birth place for the first time in 1981 and fell in love with the island instantly. In 1983 he returned again but this time with his wife Pamela and 3 children and decided to build a summer vacation home on Miradouro-da-Papalva hill.
John & Pamela retired in 2002 and decided to expand and turn their summer home into a Guest House. John being a native of Pico island is familiar with the islands rich history, customs, and traditions and he loves to share it all with the guests.
Pamela
Is of Italian and German descent, born in the San Francisco Bay Area California USA, a former nurse who loves to bake. Pamela's grandmother, who was an Italian chef in a restaurant in Minnesota, she taught Pamela how to cook and bake her Italian food. So Pamela loves to bake her grandmothers recipes and local cuisine and share it with the guests.
